WISH VIP Fortnightly Bulletin – Edition 8 |
What an incredible few days! The passing of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, has left a gaping hole in the world. A few months ago, I was discussing with a mentor the state of leadership in the world. In Australia, and across the world, we have seen Politicians become intoxicated on power and their self-importance has seen them make decisions that have destroyed businesses and locked people up to the detriment of their mental wellbeing. Whether you supported the decisions at the time, and I know I was on board, the fullness of time tells us there was no genuine rationale for the severity of the lockdowns. You have all seen it in the workplace. Some people get promoted to a position, and with it they are granted a certain amount of power. Within a short time, the person turns into some type of pseudo-Nazi as the power had gone to their head and their ego goes out of control. Following the discussions, I contemplated for a day or so. Who among the world leaders has a genuine and balanced hold on power. The only person I could think of was The Queen. And I further realised that the reason she could hold such power, with so much grace and dignity, was her unrelenting dedication to service. Selfless service is a pathway to personal peace, self-acceptance, and wellbeing. May she rest peacefully. |
Introduction: The Queen’s passing has left me contemplating many things and one of them is Selfless Service. Being an employee of and organisation, you have a contract of service. You serve the organisation with your labor and expertise and the organisation serves you by supporting you with resources and by paying you an agreed amount of money. Workplaces fall into disharmony when someone fails to deliver their agreed service with a dedication to an expected standard. Companies can cut costs which may lead to a reduction in resources. Workers can start taking short-cuts, become distracted or reduce their effort. As soon as one party limits their service, it creates a ripple effect. Imagine a football team where one play ceases to try. When you develop a functional and effective safety strategy, you are serving several parties, including your employer, your direct boss, all employees, the client and the general public. When your team implement that strategy, they are also serving all those parties, plus they are serving you. I have realised that the two keys to making service work are Inspiration and Selflessness. When someone is inspired, motivation is naturally there. When someone is selfless, care will be the driver of their intentions. |
What is Your Inspiration. It may seem strange to you that I would start out discussing health and not go straight for a topic like blood pressure, vegetarian diets, or exercise. But I start here because frankly, if you do not know where you are going in life and what you really want to create, why bother with good health. Read more… |
The Power of Service? One of the great secrets to happiness and contentment lies in the understanding of Balance. Knowing that everything in the Universe continually strives to achieve a state of Balance, we can accept that whatever hardships we may be enduring, there are good times just around the corner. |
How is Your Immunity Early in the Pandemic, I dived in and read as much as I could. In my role at the Global wellness Institute, I had access to some good people and went onto zooms with esteemed folk like Dr Richard Carmona, 17th Surgeon General of the USA. Everyone was curious about this emergence of this Corona Virus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) and what to do about it. The earliest reports out of China revealed that their research was demonstrating that those who were becoming sickest or who were dying, were almost all suffering from a poorly functioning immune system. I and others lobbied the Federal Government to run an education campaign to teach all citizens about their immune system and how to make it robust. Remember, we were over a year away from the vaccines. However, they had no interest. As time evolves, we see that so many this year have been afflicted with Covid and with other flu strains. So many people have been sick. As a result, I create a program called “Optimizing Your Immunity”. I have delivered it with much success at mine sites and will be delivering it next week to a transport company. It is something worth considering. You can further fortify your workforce and help their families by delivering such education. |

A Simple, Helpful Tip When sitting and working for hours, do not continually drink coffee. That is not what coffee is for. Coffee is something you stop and do, or it is something you sit and share with a friend. If you seek a hot drink to sip while you work, find an herbal tea that you enjoy. Some herbal teas are stimulating, some are calming. Others help with mental clarity. And because they do not contain caffeine, your nervous system will not be overly stimulated, and they will hydrate you. |
